WWE Night Of Champions 2011 Review

The show opens with a nice little package focused around Punk vs Triple H, Alberto Del Rio vs John Cena and Randy Orton vs Mark Henry. The theme is "Power" and how it effects different individuals. Nice little package, Better then most WWE PPV's.

WWE Tag Team Championship
Air-Boom (c) vs 'Awesome Truth' (Guess that is their new name.)

Personally I felt this match was a fine opener. Alot of people on the net went off simply because Miz & Truth got screwed with Miz tagging in Truth and the referee not seeing it. I personally felt this was fine though as it kept that whole "Conspiracy" angle going with Truth & Miz. In the end, The Miz attacked the referee as Air-Boom won by Disqualification.

Match Rating: 3/5

After the match we see Truth & Miz with Matt Striker. They tell Striker that they don't care about the fine for striking the referee and that Triple H probably won't be C.O.O after tonight.
WWE Intercontinental Championship
Cody Rhodes (c) vs Ted Dibiase
To me, This was possibly match of the night before the Main Event. The match showed why Cody Rhodes and Ted Dibiase are two of the most underrated guys on the WWE Roster. Mid-Match Dibiase removed Rhodes mask which got a great ovation but as he went to strike Dibiase, Rhodes got the roll up for the clean victory.
Match Rating: 3.5/5

The thing that bugged me about this is you have this over heel getting the "clean" victory on Dibiase. Sure Rhodes sorta had the tights but it was still a pretty clean victory for a heel.

After the match we see the most pointless segment I have seen on Pay-Per-View since "Obama's" speech at Capitol Punishment.  It involved Christian demanding "one more match". Sheamus came out and decided to help him if he would let Sheamus be his first opponent. Christian agrees and they circle the ring Bushwhacker like chanting "one more match" until Sheamus Brogue Kicks Christian to end a terrible segment.

Fatal Four-Way for the United States Championship:
Dolph Ziggler (c) vs Jack Swagger vs John Morrison vs Alex Riley

This was a short match but a decent one. Early on in the match, Alex Riley hit his dodgy looking DDT and has Swagger beat but Vickie assisted Swagger by putting his leg on the bottom rope. Towards the end Swagger looks to have won the match as he hits the Gutwrench Powerbomb but Swagger shoves Swagger out of the way and covers John Morrison for the victory.

Match Rating: 2.5/5

Great to see Ziggler retain but personally would have preferred Ziggler dropping the belt to Swagger so he can get into the Main Event Picture. It is so bloody overdue.

Backstage we see Josh Matthews. He interviews the man Challenging Randy Orton for the World Heavyweight Championship, Mark Henry. Henry states that nobody believes he can win the big one. He states he will prove the doubters wrong and after the match he expects Matthews to come out and interview him.

We then see Matt Striker with Vickie Guerrero. She states that she would make a great C.O.O before making out with Striker. Really pointless and I cannot Vickie, The stupid bitch.

World Heavyweight Championship:
Randy Orton (c) vs Mark Henry

The match kicks off with Orton in control, After a minute or so Henry breaks out of a sleeper hold. Henry has control for awhile with Hurting Orton from the outside wrapping his body around the corner post. Eventually he gets back into the ring and Orton regains control attempting to hit the RKO. Henry counters and hits the World Strongest Slam to get the victory. Henry is declared the NEW World Heavyweight Champion.

Match Rating: 3/5

Surprisingly watchable for a Henry match. Great to see him as the new World Champion though. He deserves it.

After the match we see Josh Matthews come down and interview Mark Henry. Henry welcomes the fans to the 'Hall Of Pain' and promises he will be the most dominant World Heavyweight Champion ever.

Backstage we see Johnny Lauranitis walking with Rodriguez and WWE Champion Del Rio. Del Rio complains about teaming with Rodriguez on Raw and Lauranitis blames it on Triple H. As they walk off, We see CM Punk in a motherfu*king Ice Cream bar shirt (*Mini Mark out moment*) . Laurnitis wishes him luck, Punk that states that Johnny means luck as in "Best of luck in your future endeavours". nice little segment

Diva's Championship
Kelly Kelly (c) vs Beth Phoenix

This simply put is a load of bullshit. Firstly, Night of Champions is in Buffalo New York. The hometown of Beth Phoenix. Secondly, Nobody is going to believe that Kelly can beat Phoenix two times in a row but amazingly she does. This simply put was shit booking.

Match Rating: 0.5/5

WWE Championship:
Alberto Del Rio (c) vs John Cena

Where do I start? The match sucked. I was phasing in and out throughout the whole thing and Del Rio LOST. What the hell, Cena becomes a 10 time WWE Champion. That belt has not had prestige since JBL's title reign and it pisses me off. I am fine with Cena, More then most people are but ten world title reigns? It is worse then TNA's world title at the moment. Since MITB, We have had Punk become champ, Then Rey Mysterio, Then Cena, Then Punk, Then Del Rio and Then Cena again. What is the point?

Match Rating: 2/5

No DQ - Triple H vs CM Punk

This match was fine until the end. It was a great brawl with lots of turns in offense. It was interesting seeing Punk and Trips face because it is something different. Mid-Match Miz and R-Truth come out and attack both men. Don't understand why they attacked both men instead of Triple H but yeah. Johnny Ace then texted Nash and Nash came out and attacked both men also. In the end, Triple H picked up the victory and stayed COO.

Match Rating: 3/5

Overall PPV Rating: 2.3/5
